The Foundation
Our Origin Story
Seth Gruschow spent years in the restaurant world, first as a chef, then in operations, consulting, and eventually as a COO. He learned how to keep kitchens running, teams aligned, and numbers in order. But somewhere in the long stretch of systems and problem solving, the pure joy of cooking went quiet.
He found it again the old way, over open flame. Live fire cooking returned him to the fundamentals, fire, smoke, patience, and the focused stillness that comes only when your hands and instincts are the only instruments.
Iron Embers was born from that rediscovered passion. What began as a personal return to the elemental act of cooking over fire grew into a desire to share it. Not just the food, but the full human experience: the rising smoke, the shared waiting, the conversation that unfolds when something is cooking slowly and honestly in front of you.
